I have another blog at www.creativemusingsofjudyirene.blogspot.com. This blog has been updated in the last few months in terms blog design and more consistent posting of once or twice weekly. That's the goal and the challenge I have posed for myself as I gear up for a life changing experience.
The Creative Musings of JudyIrene blog will be the one that I will be writing in most often. Three categories are: "In the Studio", "All things Textiles" and "Artful Journey" along with some special postings related to an upcoming trip to Korea where I'll be teaching Art as a visiting Art Educator and doing some research on textiles and the arts and culture of South Korea.
Hope to see you there!
Pate de Vere workshop with Alicia Lomne in Janurary 2012. This workshop was a joy to take part of at Bullseye glass Resource Center in Portland, Oregon.
A few things to love about this type of Kiln Glass is it's connection to Ceramics in the model building stage... then the fun happened in the application of the glass frit paste to the mold that was made from the clay model.
During the workshop, each day all students created a new piece that got fired in the glass kiln at the end of the day. Beholding the magic at the start of the day is like finding treasure from beneath the sea. In the above left photograph, on the last day of the workshop all works were brought to the front and an informal critique was held.
Welcome to my new website "Studio of JudyIrene" where my journey into the world of practicing studio artist blooms. There is one week left to go at my old job as the Art Teacher at the New Mexico School for the Deaf. As I gather up lesson plans and handouts from prior semesters and having daily decisons to be made on the spot, I reflect back on my years of teaching Art to students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing here in New Mexico and Oregon. Many collegues in the past have asked me if I teach adults and even though it has taken years to happen, this fall will be working to develop a series of workshops or individual workshops for adults in ceramics and painting. Eventally I'll love to add Kiln-Glass to the list of Art Mediums to offer to interested participants.
Its Friday just after lunch so I'll better return to the daily grind of packing up the artroom of my soon to be former Art Studio classroom. Today is also the day my work is being sold to the community of New Mexico School for the Deaf. Since some people may like to stay in touch and get email notification of new work on offer, work on inserting a link to JudyIrene's Studio mailing list is underway.
